The 14th Symposium on Infections in the
Immunocompromised Host is now behind us!
On behalf of
the International Immunocompromised Host Society, I would like to
thank
you for attending
the 14th International Symposium on Infections in the
Immunocompromised Host held in Crans-Montana, Switzerland from
Sunday 2nd to Wednesday 5th July 2006. The event was co-sponsored by the Swiss
Society for Infectious Diseases and endorsed by the Swiss
Transplantation Society, The Swiss Society for Hematology and The Swiss Society for Hospital Hygiene.
The 2006
program covered broad aspects of infections in the immunocompromised host with specific emphasis on infection in
transplant patients. An internationally renowned faculty
participated in the plenary, round table and meet-the-expert sessions.
At the meeting a report was be given on the European Guidelines for
the Management of Bacterial and Fungal Infections in Patients with
Acute Leukemia.
Two poster
sessions were successful at encouraging one-to-one discussions between faculty,
presenters and delegates.
The meeting attracted infectious disease specialists,
hematologists, oncologists, transplant physicians, microbiologists,
immunologists and others with an interest in infections in the immunocompromised
host from more than 50 countries.
Once again our
meeting allowed a
wonderful opportunity to exchange scientific ideas and discuss the
latest approaches to the care of Immunocompromised patients.
Once again,
thank you for helping to make this one of the most successful
symposiums our society has produced. I look forward to seeing
you in Thessaloniki Greece, 22-25 June, 2008.
