Invitation from the ICHS President
The
International Immunocompromised Host Society will hold its 15th
International Symposium on Infections in the Immunocompromised Host
in Thessaloniki, Greece from Sunday 22nd to Wednesday 25th
June 2008.
The
outstanding scientific program includes key sessions on infections
from all aspects of immunocompromised hosts led by an internationally
renowned faculty giving plenary talks, round table sessions, and
meet the professor meetings. The poster session encourages
one-to-one discussions between faculty, presenters and delegates.
The meeting
is designed for infectious disease specialists, hematologists,
oncologists, transplant physicians, microbiologists, immunologists
and others with interests in infections in the immunocompromised
host. We will be joined by our colleagues from the Hellenic Society
of Medical Mycology and the Hellenic Society of Chemotherapy.
Our 2006
Symposium drew participants from over 50 countries. The 2008 meeting
will once again foster the interchange of science and medicine in
the context of the latest approaches to the care of
immunocompromised patients.
The venue for
the 15th Symposium is
Thessaloniki, Greece. Thessaloniki is the major city in Northern
Greece, overlooking Mount Olympus and close to Vergina, the home of
Philip of Macedon. The Makedonia Palace is a short 30 minutes from
Thessaloniki international airport, which is easily reached through
Milan, London, Frankfurt, etc.
Thessaloniki
is full of historical and cultural treasures throughout the downtown
area and the region. It has the richest collection of Byzantine
Churches in Greece, a number of excellent museums, the White Tower
and many other sites.
The 15th
Symposium in Thessaloniki will once again offer excellent science
and medicine in a superb venue. I look forward to greeting you in
Greece!
